Presenter Account Setup:
Apply for a Presenter ID and Presenter authentication code from Companies House ( if not already done ). To apply online click here .
This identifies you (or your organisation) as the filer. You’ll use it in your eFiling or software submissions.
Company Authentication Code ( CAC per Company):
Each company has its own 6 to 8 character company authentication code issued by Companies House.
It acts as that company’s digital signature. This code must be populated in the Company Form Header spreadsheet at the time of upload.
Filing on Behalf of a Company:
To file Accounts or other statutory documents for a company, use your Presenter ID/password for submission. Include the company’s authentication code (CAC) in the spreadsheet.
Companies House validates both :
Authority Requirement:
You must have the company’s permission to use its company authentication code (CAC). Using a code without authority may be considered unauthorised or fraudulent.
Best practice is to have written client consent (email or letter) confirming they authorise you to file on their behalf.
Multiple Companies:
A single Presenter ID can file for many companies, each with its own company authentication code (CAC). You do not need to register each company under your presenter account. The correct company authentication code for each submission must be supplied.
